I like turtles

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins This is a brilliant, violent, and touching book. Excellent world-building (you know I love me my post-apocalypse). Believable characters. Gripping, nailbiting plot. I got a bit annoyed with Katniss in the end, although I'll be damned if I know why. But all in all, I liked this a lot and read the rest of the series immediately.

The only thing that nags me is that I keep wondering what the rest of the world looked like. That Panem is an alternative and/or post-catastrophe USA is pretty clear, and I'm assuming the 12 (13) districts and the Capitol are all on former US territory, but did I miss the bit where we get a hint at the rest of the world? I read the whole trilogy and didn't pick up on that.
